Visiting San Diego with a local
What city are you going to tell us about?
San Diego.
Is it the city where you are living right now?
Yes, I moved here in 2013 when I decided to get a pilot licenses.
How would you describe San Diego to someone who has never been there?
San Diego is the good combination between size and weather. You have the feeling of the big city, but is still on the small size and the temperatures are temperate.
What is your favourite thing about San Diego?
Is not to big or small and the weather is basically always nice. Perfect to do any kind of sport outdoor.
What is the one thing you think can’t be missed when you are visiting San Diego?
Is not really San Diego city, is in the county. The name is Julian, is a little town east of San Diego, in the mountains. Is famous for apple pies and looks like a town straight out a western movie.
What is your favourite thing to do in San Diego when you have some time off?
Ride the bike with my daughter down Mission Bay, so many people around and a lot of places where my daughter can play.
What is your favourite restaurant?
Always Italian. The name is Isola, there is a location in Little Italy and one in La Jolla, the pizza is the most close to the Italian, for me. If you want something different Eclipse Chocolate is the bistro that you looking for, menu is alternative ed is in a nice location, South Park.
What is your favourite cheap restaurant for a quick lunch?
In San Diego you can’t go wrong with Mexican food, is everywhere and is cheap. Way different from the Mexican food that I had tasted in Italy.
What’s your favourite place to have a beer or a cocktail in San Diego?
I recently discover tizie bar named Maverik, is in Pacific Beach one of the famous location to party at night.
What do you recommend doing on a rainy day?
For rainy day I suggest museums, Balboa park is full of museum that you can enjoy, right after a nice breakfast.
What do you recommend doing for free in San Diego?
Hiking is a great free option, San Diego county is full of trails where you can discover the area outside the city.
Is there one thing not many people know about San Diego you would like to tell us?
San Diego is all to discover, one advise that I can give is about the weather, is ALMOST always nice, we say May grey and June glum and that mines that those two months are always cover with the blanket of low clouds during night and morning.
Anything else you think we should know?
Police is very strict with drink and drive, so if you plane to have a beer or something alse, take a Uber or taxi.
