Today we are going to talk with Rosa and she is going to tell us about New York.

NEW YORK BY A LOCAL

What city are you going to tell us about?

The city I love the most in the world – New York, where I currently live

Is it the city where you are living right now?

Yes, since summer 2017, a very little bit.

How would you describe New York to someone who has never been there?

Crazy. New York is an extreme city, it’s all or nothing, you love it or you hate it. But when you love it, you totally love it

What is your favourite thing or place in New York?

Anything is possible here. You can think about anything and be able to make it come true. Every corner in New York has something special. My favorite spot is Randall’s Island, a small island on the East River, easy to reach, which allows you to experience New York in total relax.

What is the one thing you think can’t be missed when you are visiting New York?

The view of the city from the Top of the Rock… at sundown!

What is your favourite thing to do in New York when you have some time off?

Visiting museums.

What is your favourite restaurant?

Malii, a very small Thai restaurant in East Harlem, out of the tourist area. A very small place, about twenty seats, serving delicious food!

What is your favourite cheap restaurant or take away for a quick lunch?

Whole Foods, the chain of organic markets. they serve cooked food. You choose the size of your basket made from recycled cardboard, put it everything you want there and pay by the weight. You can have a great lunch for $7.

What’s your favourite place to have a beer or a cocktail inNew York?

You cannot miss an aperitif or a beer on a rooftop. The one I like the most is the Rainbow Room or 250Fifth.

What do you recommend doing on a rainy day?

Visit the Met (You could spend an entire day there, and yet it wouldn’t be enough) or, why not, shopping at Century 21, especially the Downtown store, next to both Ground Zero and the Oculus

What do you recommend doing for free in New York?

There are many things that can be done for free… For instance take the Staten Island Ferry and enjoy the new of the city and the Statue of Liberty from the sea.

Is there one thing not many people know aboutNew York you would like to tell us?

There are many things people do not know about New York, even if they’ve been here many times. But this is part of the magic of the Big Apple. You must come back!

Anything else you think we should know?

Yes. In New York you may experience all four seasons in one week. Be prepared…
